3D Class: Clay
The first 3D lesson entailed using wire and clay. We learnt about clay and the different ways to give a clay structure strength and stability using different methods like layering tubes of clay like a tapered coil which abled us to build higher with more strength than a pole and more negative space than having a solid block. We then had to sculpt a clay model of the classmate sitting across from us, i used Wanda as my subject and found it a really enjoyable experience and i found myself really into it & it was interesting seeing how my drawing skills transfer to 3 dimensional work. For the next clay exercise i modelled an acoustic guitar (inspired by the "heavy metal" section our Exquisite Corpse story) out of wire and then covered it with clay, forming a clay structure that wouldn't have ben possible without the reinforcement of wire.
